Learn where to position your sensors for optimal coverage

Proper sensor placement is critical for effective rodent detection. This guide covers where to place your base station and each sensor for maximum coverage.

Choose Your Base Station Location

Place your Rodent Radar base station in a central location where it can communicate with all sensors. The base station should be:

? Near a power outlet (USB power required)
? Within range of your WiFi router
? Elevated if possible (shelf or counter height)
? Away from large metal objects that could interfere with signals

The base station communicates wirelessly with each sensor, so central placement ensures reliable coverage.
Tip: The base station can communicate with sensors up to 100 feet away in open areas. Walls and obstacles will reduce this range.

Understanding Rodent Travel Patterns

Rodents are creatures of habit and typically follow predictable paths. Understanding these patterns helps you place sensors effectively:

? Rodents prefer to travel along walls rather than across open spaces
? They follow the same routes repeatedly, creating "runways"
? They seek cover and avoid well-lit, exposed areas
? Common entry points include gaps around pipes, vents, and doors

Look for signs of existing activity: droppings, gnaw marks, grease marks along walls, or nesting materials.
Tip: Focus sensor placement on areas where you have already noticed signs of rodent activity.

Best Locations for Sensors

Place your sensors (A through H) in these high-priority locations:

Kitchen/Food Areas:
? Behind refrigerator
? Under/behind stove
? Near pantry or food storage
? Along baseboards near cabinets

Entry Points:
? Near exterior doors
? Around pipe penetrations
? By HVAC vents or ducts
? Garage entry points

Storage Areas:
? Basement corners
? Garage perimeter
? Utility room edges
? Attic access points
Tip: You have 8 sensors - prioritize areas with known activity first, then expand coverage to likely entry points.

Positioning Each Sensor

For each sensor:

1. Place the sensor flat against the floor, touching the wall
2. The PIR detection zone extends approximately 3 feet in front of the sensor
3. Angle the sensor to face the expected travel path
4. Ensure nothing blocks the sensor's view (no boxes, furniture directly in front)

The sensor LED will flash briefly when it detects motion, confirming proper operation.
Tip: Write down which sensor letter (A-H) you placed in each location - you will need this when creating your floor plan.
